We are seeking a highly motivated, full-time Clinical Research Technologist I/II to join the Radich Molecular Oncology Lab. This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to both moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing on human specimens within a CLIA/CAP-regulated environment. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, small-team setting while also demonstrating the ability to work independently. This individual will follow established protocols with precision and operate analytical instrumentation, including PCR and sequencing platforms as well as recovering, compiling, and verifying the accuracy of clinical patient data; performing calculations; preparing reports; and executing molecular biology techniques with a high degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities

Clinical Research Technologist I

  • Perform laboratory tests on clinical samples under the supervision of senior lab members, utilizing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and reliability for both moderate and high complexity testing in a regulated environment.
  • Interpret and report test results under the guidance of senior lab members.
  • Log, record, process, and track clinical specimens.
  • Maintain laboratory records and data electronically as well as paper based, using proper good documentation practices.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and reagents, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining appropriate level of lab supplies.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • 100% lab work expected.

Clinical Research Technologist II

  • All Clinical Research Technologist I responsibilities as well as additional tasks.
  • Participate in planning strategies with management for increasing accuracy, effectiveness, and/or scope of laboratory procedures following regulations and good clinical practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior members in the performance of standardized laboratory operation procedures.
  • Proactively and independently identify opportunities for continuous improvement in laboratory processes and procedures, and recommend effective enhancements to management.
  • Maintain, calibrate and work collaboratively with vendors on laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Order, maintain and train junior members on appropriate level of lab supplies and reagents.
  • Respond and/or address customer questions, requests and complaints with guidance from senior lab members.
  • 95% lab work and 5% projects expected.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Clinical Research Technologist I

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's, or higher, degree in medical technology or laboratory science from an accredited institution; or successful completion of a bachelor's, or higher, degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences from an accredited institution.
  • At least six months of acceptable, supervised experience and/or relevant training in a CLIA certified lab handling human specimens.
  • Basic laboratory skills and molecular biology knowledge.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to maintain timely and accurate digital and paper records.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Clinical Research Technologist II

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's, or higher, degree in medical technology or laboratory science from an accredited institution; or successful completion of a bachelor's, or higher, degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences from an accredited institution.
  • At least 2 years working in a CLIA certified laboratory handling human specimens with a Bachelors or at least 1 year working in a CLIA certified laboratory handling human specimens with a Masters or higher.
  • Prior work experience performing basic molecular techniques and/or other sterile techniques.
  • Must be detailed oriented with the ability to maintain timely and accurate digital and paper records in an independent manner.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified or actively pursuing of becoming Certified Molecular Biologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
  • Prior experience using a LIMS/LIS.
  • Familiarity with biosafety 2 laboratory practices and bloodborne pathogen preventions.
  • Show initiative, willingness to take up new skills and responsibilities, and be a team player.

Clinical Research Technologist I: The hourly pay range for this position is from $27.01 to $38.45 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Clinical Research Technologist II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $29.77 to $42.39 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
