The Department of Psychiatry is based on the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford – a friendly, welcoming place of work with an international reputation for excellence. The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry.  The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

This is an opportunity to play a leading role in a Wellcome funded study “FOCUS: Function and Cognition in Early Psychosis”.

About the Role

The post is funded for 12 months in the first instance and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.

You will have the opportunity to develop your own research with a focus on neuroimaging, cognition, and pharmacological interventions. You will report to Dr Rob McCutcheon and join a group of researchers with wide-ranging expertise. Depending on your interests and abilities, you will have the opportunity to undertake analyses of neuroimaging measures, apply machine learning approaches to clinical and neuroimaging data, the development of clinical services, the conducting of meta-analyses, and the analysis of pre-acquired clinical trial data. 

About You

You will MBBS qualified, or equivalent. You will have demonstrable experience of working with individuals with psychotic disorder and the ability to use your own initiative to plan and organise complex activities and programmes. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to form rapport with difficult to engage individuals, write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings are essential.

Experience recruiting individuals with psychotic disorders to research studies and in neuroimaging would be desirable.
