Job Description
The Clinical Science and Skills Coordinator provides administrative, operational, and programmatic support for the Clinical Science and Skills domain within the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM). Working closely with the Director of Clinical Science and Skills, the Associate Dean for Clinical Science, educational leaders, faculty, and operational staff, the Coordinator supports the delivery of clinical science instruction, standardized patient activities, simulation-based…
education, learner assessment, and related educational programming across all phases of the undergraduate medical education curriculum.
The Coordinator serves as a key operational resource for scheduling, communications, educational events, assessment administration, learning management systems, instructional materials, and data management. This position interacts and collaborates extensively with faculty, students, standardized patient personnel, simulation staff, Educational Affairs leadership, assessment personnel, and other institutional partners to support high-quality educational experiences and efficient program operations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in education, healthcare administration, health sciences, public health, business administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience providing administrative, programmatic, or operational support in a professional or academic environment.
- Experience using common office productivity software, including Microsoft Office and related technologies.
- Experience working with databases, scheduling systems, or information management systems.
- Ability to lift 25lbs (needed for setup of portable exam tables, ultrasound, simulation equipment).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, healthcare administration, health sciences, or related field.
- Experience working in higher education, health professions education, or healthcare environments.
- Experience supporting medical education, simulation programs, or clinical skills education.
- Experience using educational technologies, learning management systems, scheduling systems, or assessment platforms.
- Experience supporting accreditation, assessment, or continuous quality improvement activities.
- Experience in project management or coordinating educational events, instructional programs, or faculty support activities.
