Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $46.00 to $50.00 hourly and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.

Summary
Provides in-person individual and group clinical supervision for trainee and associate marriage and family therapists, while overseeing caseloads and documentation in accordance with the vision, mission, values, goals, strategic initiatives, and procedures of the California Baptist University Counseling Center. Ensures compliance with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and professional standards of practice. Collaborates with Student Services personnel and University Administration to maintain alignment with university policies and to strengthen collaborative care for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following, under the direction of the Assistant Director of the Counseling Center. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Embrace and actively demonstrate Christ-centered, biblically based, and psychologically sound therapy.
  • Maintain in-person clinical supervision for trainee and associate marriage and family therapists in individual, triadic, and group settings, support their professional, ethical, and faith-integrated development, and address supervisee or clinical needs outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Manage supervisee caseload documentation to ensure compliance with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and Counseling Center procedures.
  • Review trainee and associate caseloads through live and recorded sessions and provide feedback and written evaluations in alignment with Counseling Center procedures.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of mental health awareness programs and events as needed.
  • Assist with assessment of and/or intervention with CBUCC clients exhibiting emotional or psychological difficulties.
  • Provide clinical supervisory assistance and support the coordination of student care needs with appropriate university departments.
  • Assist with trainings and professional development opportunities within the Counseling Center.
  • Maintain clinical, legal, ethical, and administrative compliance with BBS and CAMFT standards in all supervisory responsibilities at the Counseling Center.
  • Participate in Counseling Center staff meetings, trainings, and mandatory events.
  • Assist in serving as a liaison to university departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ability to use independent judgment, and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Accomplished in teaching and training.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • A thorough knowledge of: Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures and practices.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers; and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.

Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree (M.A.) in Counseling or equivalent as well as current, unrestricted Licensure as a Psychologist, Marriage Family Therapist, and/or Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of California. At least 2 years as a licensed psychotherapist.
