Essential Job Duties:
Join a team at the forefront of veterinary medicine. As a key member of the Randall B. Terry Jr. Companion Animal Medical Center, you will provide comprehensive patient care and coordination across our specialty services. This role is designed for a highly skilled veterinary professional who thrives in a "leading-edge" environment, balancing direct clinical care with the organizational precision required by a premier teaching hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence & Patient Care
- Direct Patient Care: Provide high-level support for diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural treatments.
- Monitoring & Recovery: Manage patient safety through medication administration, post-procedure recovery, and advanced pain management.
- Procedural Support: Assist with sterile diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using aseptic techniques.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Coordinate and support imaging services, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, and radiography.
Communication & Coordination
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a central point of contact for clients, clinicians, staff, and learners.
- Referral Management: Facilitate seamless communication with referring veterinarians (rDVMs) and interdisciplinary hospital teams.
- Client Relations: Manage patient admitting, provide status updates, and assist with scheduling to ensure a high-quality service experience.
Operations & Education
- Workflow Management: Oversee procedural requests, sample submissions, and financial coordination (billing, estimates, and charge entry).
- Mentorship: Orient and train staff and learners within the clinical environment.
- Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to infectious disease protocols, OSHA, EHS, and radiation safety standards.

- Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate and maintain specialized medical equipment.
- Organizational Mastery: Exceptional skills in documentation and workflow coordination within a hospital information system.
- Effective Communication: Ability to engage professionally with a varied population of clients and clinicians.
- Physical Readiness: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations) and work in a high-energy environment.

Minimum Experience/Education:
Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Some positions may require additional Training, Certifications, or Licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting; preferably at a teaching hospital.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor patients, administer medications, and support post-procedure recovery and pain management.
- Experience assisting with sterile procedures and coordinating diagnostic imaging services such as CT, MRI, ultrasound, or radiography.
- Proven ability to manage clinical workflows, documentation, and financial coordination tasks (e.g., billing, estimates, charge entry) within a hospital information system.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with experience coordinating care among clients, clinicians, interdisciplinary teams, and learners while adhering to established safety and compliance protocols.
Required license or certification:
- Licensed/Registered/Certified by any state
- Graduation from an AVMA fully accredited two- or four-year Veterinary Technician program
