Are you looking for a fulfilling career where you can inspire the next generation of vets, while maintaining clinical distinction, and still have the opportunity for interesting research?
The ideal candidate will hold an ECVDI or ACVR Diploma but residency-trained colleagues due to sit exams will also be considered. Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (or eligibility to become a member), proof or eligibility for your right to work in the UK, an excellent command of written and spoken English and strong communication skills will be required. The post offers scope for research and scholarship (potentially including exam study) depending on interest. The role will also involve the delivery of clinical teaching to undergraduates, interns and residents.
You will be joining a friendly Imaging team of three other European Diagnostic Imaging specialists, three radiographers and a Diagnostic Imaging intern. Our diagnostic imaging suite includes an on-site 1.5T MRI (Siemens Magnetom Essenza), a new 80-slice CT scanner (Canon Aquilion Lightning), digital radiography, C-arm and ultrasonography (GE Logiq E9 for general ultrasound and a GE Vivid E95 for echocardiography).
Our facilities also include a brand-new, cutting-edge linear accelerator, radio-iodine unit, dedicated ICU and excellent in-house laboratory. We are enjoying an excellent collaboration with the Institute for Veterinary Pathology, Public Health & Disease Investigation, which provide invaluable insight and feedback regarding our clinical cases including expertise in neuropathology and immunohistochemistry and support for research projects.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help develop the Imaging department, which acts as a hub between a tight-knit and supportive multidisciplinary team including many specialists working in a wide range of services within our award-winning state-of-the-art Small Animal Hospital. You will see a varied and interesting referral and emergency caseload.
The hospital is based on the beautiful Garscube estate, which is charmingly nestled in the Scottish Lowlands, only a 10 minutes’ drive away from the vibrant “West End” of Glasgow and less than one hour away from Loch Lomond.
This post is part time, 15.75 hours per week and fixed term to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months or until the substantive postholder returns.
