Job Summary

The Clinician at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) is a 12-month, limited-term, full-time position designed to provide essential mental health support to GGC students. They will offer a range of counseling services, including individual therapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention. The clinician will also contribute to the Counseling Center's mission by participating in outreach programs, consulting with faculty and staff, and engaging in administrative tasks. Each staff member is expected to contribute to the greater goals of the Division of Student Affairs and the college. These contributions (outside of your primary work area) may include supporting division and college-wide initiative, staffing events, and serving on committees as needed. Reporting to the Staff Psychologist within CAPS, the Clinician is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health support to students at GGC.

This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is responsible for reporting crimes and other incidents to the Clery Act Compliance Officer for inclusion in the Annual Campus Security Report in accordance with the Federal Clery Act and GGC policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides counseling services to GGC students. These services include initial consultations, individual and group counseling, clinical consultations, staff and faculty consultations, and crisis interventions.
  • Provides outreach presentations and programming to the campus community
  • Consults with GGC faculty, staff, and students to provide advice and support in assisting students in distress
  • Collaborates with other campus departments in order to promote mental health awareness and resources
  • Participates in the after-hours on-call rotation for addressing campus crisis interventions
  • Participates as a team member in the Division of Student Affairs
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Graduate Degree Master's in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family or Social Work (LPC, LMFT, LCSW) or higher
Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia or license eligible for Psy.D or Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a college counseling center
Experience in providing individual, couples, and/or group therapy; crisis counseling, and/or other clinical psychological services
Commitment to and experience working with various populations

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, other departments, and/or students groups
  • Knowledge of, and skill in completing, administrative duties
  • Skill in interpersonal relationship building
  • Skill in oral and written communications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in understanding the complex clinical needs related to personal identities and experiences of the full range of students
