Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION

Develop and supervise the Men's Club Basketball team in accordance with institutional and departmental objectives within the rules and regulations of the governing bodies for Salve Regina University Rec Sports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Instruct student-athletes in the rules, fundamentals, and team concepts of basketball. Provide team supervision at practices and competitions both on and off campus.
• Develop and implement practices and competitions to provide a positive and competitive experience for players.
• Establish team rules and protocols and implement and enforce appropriately.
• Maintain a roster that is as inclusive as possible without sacrificing the quality of the program or safety of the team members.
• Build a network of college club programs, conferences and leagues that are an appropriate match for our team to compete against.
• Inventory and monitor equipment and facility to ensure it is safe and maintained in its proper state.
• Meet regularly with the Director of Recreation to evaluate roster and schedule.
• Monitor your Salve Regina University email account and respond to inquiries from prospective students in a timely manner. On occasion, represent the university and team at recruitment related events.
• Adhere to the policies and guidelines set forth by the University and the Dean of Students department.
• Abide by and enforce the rules and regulations of the Club Sport Conference and Competition agencies and venues.
• Club sport coaches shall immediately advise the Director of Recreation if there is a reason to believe that violations have occurred or will occur in regard to sexual misconduct or harassment, hazing, or any other action or activity that could endanger the well being of a team member.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with the team's annual campus wide event relating to their sport.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• A passion for the university's work in creating a diverse and inclusive community is expected.
• Must be a self-starter and problem solver.
• Must have the ability to work independently.
• Experience in mentoring high school and/or college students.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• First Aid/CPR certification (needed by first practice session).
• Valid Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree.
• Competitive athletic experience.
• Coaching experience at the high school, club or college level.
• Chauffeur's license or willingness and ability to obtain equivalent endorsement.
