WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
As a Collection Assistant, you'll play an important role in maintaining the Library's collections and study spaces, ensuring resources are easy to find and accessible for the JCU community.
- Shelve books and journals accurately and maintain collection order.
- Conduct shelf checks and collection audits to support collection management projects.
- Retrieve, scan and assist with the repair of library materials.
- Support collection relocation and maintenance activities.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and welcoming library environment.
- Identify and report maintenance issues and space constraints.
- Provide basic directional assistance and referrals to library users when required.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE
To be successful, you'll have:
- Current enrolment as a JCU student based in Cairns.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A reliable and proactive approach to work.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
