Reporting to the Manager of Collections & Library Services and in support of the mission of the Harvard Kennedy School, the Collections Coordinator is responsible for course materials processing including copyright and accessibility and assisting with print and digital collections projects.

The Collections Coordinator will also encourage and support this learning for other members of LRS.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Processing course readings for Degree Programs and Executive Education. This includes using tools such as Leganto and Ares, remediating documents to comply with the Harvard University Digital Accessibility Policy, supporting the copyright invoicing process, and training and communicating with teaching teams.
- Collaborating with LRS staff to ensure that all new HKS digital collections, particularly student capstone projects, comply with the Harvard University Digital Accessibility Policy. This includes remediating documents and training and supporting HKS students and staff.
- Supporting the Manager of Collections & Library Services on activities such as collection evaluations and deaccessioning projects.
- Assisting the Digital Collections Librarian with HKS Faculty Publications and the use of DASH by HKS affiliates.
- Assisting the Community Engagement Librarian with displays, events, and activities related to HKS collections.
- Processing donations to the HKS Political Button Collection.
- Fostering a spirit of teamwork and unity among the department that allows for disagreement over ideas and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed in our efforts to support the HKS community and mission.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Collections & Library Services.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to pull materials on and off shelves.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time (up to 7 hours per day).
- Ability to push a book cart filled with books through and around the library.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Enrolled in an MLIS degree program or other relevant degree or 1 year of library experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, organize workflow and monitor tasks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with Leganto or Alma.
- Knowledge of digital accessibility best practices.
- Experience in remediating PDFs for accessibility.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual and in a team environment.
- Capacity for continuous learning and application of new technology skills to work tasks.
