College Health Physician
Job Summary
University Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Primary Care Physician (0.8 FTE) to join our collaborative, student-focused medical team. This role offers the opportunity to provide exceptional care tailored to the needs of our diverse student population while championing an integrated and holistic care model.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver comprehensive primary care in partnership with an interdisciplinary treatment team
- Support quality improvement initiatives and advise on best practices and clinical standards
- Contribute to the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health learners

Key Job Responsibilities
- Reviews patient records and updates patient medical history
- Counsels patients on preventive healthcare and treatment options
- Orders, performs, reviews, and interprets diagnostic test results
- Serves as a subject matter expert in field of practice to other healthcare practitioners for complex patients cases or incorporating new medical techniques or standards into clinical practice
- Examines, assesses, and treats patients
- Develops and communicates plan of treatment with patients and other members of the patient care team as required for treatment

UHS Medical Services provides high quality medical services to UW-Madison students with specialties in primary care, gynecology, sexual health, travel medicine, allergy and immunization, and physical therapy. Our clinicians also provide a wide range of preventative care in support of the UHS overarching mission of promoting students' academic and personal success through an integrated model of medical, mental health, and prevention activities and services.
Compensation
Negotiable – 12 months

Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree, with completed residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Adolescent Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or relative specialty
- Experience providing clinical assessment and treatment for acute illnesses, injuries, chronic problems, preventive care, and health counseling in an ambulatory setting
- Commitment to health promotion and primary care
- Interest in teaching and training
- MD or DO Wisconsin medical license or eligible to become licensed by the appointment start date
- Board Certification in Primary Specialty required. Board eligible physicians will be considered only during their first post-graduate year
- Healthcare Provider level CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years post training clinical experience
- Experience working with college students or young adults, sensitivity to a diverse student community
- Experience in evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries
- Experience diagnosing and treating anxiety and depression
- Experience performing in-office procedures, including but not limited to cryotherapy, incision and drainage, ingrown toenail removal, and laceration repair or willingness to learn procedures
Education
MD, DO, or equivalent is required
