College Partner for the Teacher Cadet Program
The Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences (CESHS) at Winthrop University is seeking an energetic and engaged faculty member to serve as College Partner for the Teacher Cadet program and support Teacher Education programs in the college. The Teacher Cadet Program, funded by the State of South Carolina and administered through the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA), is designed to recruit academically talented 11th- and 12th-grade students with demonstrated leadership and interpersonal strengths into the teaching profession and to cultivate future civic leaders who support and advocate for public education. The Winthrop Teacher Cadet College Partner will oversee the administration, partnerships, compliance, and outreach functions of the Teacher Cadet program in coordination with university and district stakeholders. As an instructor the individual will also teach at least twelve credit hours annually in the Teacher Education program. This faculty member will report to the CESHS Associate Dean for Educator Partnerships and Preparation, who serves as Chair of the Education Core department.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership, coordination, and administration of the Teacher Cadet program, ensuring compliance with CERRA requirements and alignment with program goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison among Winthrop University, CERRA, and partner school districts, managing relationships, agreements (MOAs), and program representation at meetings and trainings.
- Oversee all student-related processes, including application coordination, registration, grading, records management, and collaboration with campus offices to support student services.
- Conduct site visits and provide ongoing support to high school instructors to ensure effective curriculum implementation and strengthen program quality and recruitment.
- Plan and execute program events and outreach initiatives, including Teacher Cadet College Days, promotional efforts, and participation in Educator Signing Day activities. Lead efforts in cohort development, including recruitment and selection processes;
- Teach in the Teacher Education program
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students;
- Serve on departmental/college/university committees, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising teacher candidates in clinical experiences
- Demonstrated ability in the use of technology and online learning for instructional purposes
- Demonstrated ability to use technology for student record keeping and management
- Experience working with students from at-risk backgrounds
- Experience working on a team to accomplish assessment/accreditation needs
Employment Conditions
Position is full-time, nine-month, one-year appointment.
