Executive Summary
The Utah Board of Higher Education seeks a visionary leader to serve as the next president of Mountainland Technical College (MTECH), bringing a strong commitment to workforce development, technical education, and student success.
As the chief executive officer serving one of Utah's largest technical colleges, the new president will lead a dedicated team of faculty and staff who transform students into the highly skilled professionals driving Utah's modern economy. Reporting to the Utah Board of Higher Education, a successful president will provide the strategic leadership and vision required to advance the college's mission, scale operations and programming consistent with rapid regional growth, and maintain academic and technical excellence.
MTECH is one of 16 public education institutions within the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE); by statutory authority, the Utah Board of Higher Education controls, oversees, and regulates USHE. MTECH's next leader will advance the college's mission, role, and priorities in alignment with the Utah Board of Higher Education's strategic direction. These include maximizing the value of a Utah public higher education through student success, affordability, and workforce alignment, ensuring a USHE education provides high return on investment for individuals and for Utah.
The president will prioritize the System while ensuring accountability to MTECH's mission. The duties and responsibilities of USHE college presidents are outlined in Utah Code 53H-3-303 and 53H-3-305.

Mountainland Technical College has a rich history spanning more than three decades. Since opening its doors in 1989, the college has grown from a small training institution to one of Utah's largest technical colleges, serving thousands of students each year across multiple campuses. Throughout its history, MTECH has remained committed to providing hands-on, industry-driven education that prepares students for high-demand careers.

Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree is required. Preferred qualifications include an earned graduate degree from an accredited institution and experience in one or more of the following areas: industry, education, workforce development, economic development, or employer engagement.
- Proven success in executive-level leadership, ideally within technical education, academia, workforce development, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, organizational growth, and leading institutional change.
- Commitment to student success, ideally with a track record of advancing access, retention, credential attainment, and employment outcomes.
- Demonstrated fiscal responsibility with strong expertise in financial and operational stewardship.
- Experience with accreditation, governance, regulatory compliance, and/or institutional accountability.
- Proven ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships with industry, government stakeholders, educational institutions, and/or community.
- A commitment to developing and strengthening educational and workforce pathways connecting K-12 education, postsecondary technical programs, degree-granting institutions, and/or industry partners to support student success and regional workforce needs.
- Understanding of a statewide education system, with the ability to align institutional priorities with broader system goals, policies, and strategic initiatives.
