Come and join the Commercialisation team and play a key role in helping Imperial’s researchers develop their ideas, technologies and inventions into opportunities that are attractive to industry.

What you would be doing

As a service provider to the Faculty of Medicine supporting academics in their commercialisation activities, your main duties will include:

  • Promoting College’s capabilities and licensing portfolio
  • Securing commercialisation and collaborative research income
  • Assessing research ideas and discoveries, evaluating, and advancing those technologies through towards commercialisation and market adoption via collaboration with industry, access to translational funds, licensing, or spinout formation

What we are looking for

You are a good fit for the role if you:

  • are a highly motivated individual with a passion for research and technology
  • would like to further develop your career in business development, relationship management and technology transfer
  • have significant experience in commercial deal making or licensing in a biomedical business environment (e.g. pharma, biotech, etc).

This post requires a wide range of skills and aptitudes including diligence, patience and determination to see projects through. More specifically, the position requires an ability to understand the science involved in a range of new technologies in a wide variety of disciplines relevant to the Faculty of Medicine’s research. It also requires an appreciation of how new technology creates customer value, can have wide market scale and how Imperial and its stakeholders could realise that value.

The candidate will need to demonstrate significant experience and ability in a wide range of competencies including relationship management, intellectual property protection, project management, engagement with commercial partners/customers. Ideally, the candidate will have worked in a licensing role in a Technology Transfer Office or relevant Industry setting and had significant experience of commercialisation of early-stage technologies and a good understanding of HEIs.
