Communication, Media, and Sport Management | Tenure-Track Position
Position Summary
Primary duties include teaching undergraduate courses in the Digital Media Production curriculum, with an emphasis on multimedia production, digital design, and user-centered interactive media. Areas of instruction may include audio and video production, web design and content management, and digital imaging and layout (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). The department seeks a candidate with expertise in applied digital media practices, including the creation and integration of audio, visual, and interactive content across web and mobile platforms.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability teach audio and video production and connect principles of instructional strategy and emerging technologies to support engaging and effective digital communication. Experience teaching interactive media (UI/UX design), and prototyping are welcomed.
The candidate may be asked to teach additional courses as needed by the department, including Civil Discourse, and may have the opportunity to teach in their area of specialization. Teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester (4 courses). Faculty members are required by contract to engage in continuing scholarly development and academic advising, and to perform department and university service. Days and times are variable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate degree required in communication, digital media, media arts, or media-related discipline.
- Experience teaching digital media production in areas including audio production and video production, user experience, web design and content management, and digital imaging (including photography and/or layout) required.
- Successful performance of an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration required. During the interview and teaching demonstration, the candidate must be able to demonstrate an application of instructional strategies to the topics of audio, video, and interactive multimedia.
- Commitment to the education of diverse populations.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant teaching experience in audio production, video editing, multimedia production, and/or web design and content management, and/or digital storytelling strongly preferred. This includes, but is not limited to audio (recording and editing), video (shooting and editing), digital imaging (raster and vector graphics creation as well as photography), web design and content management (user interface design and user experience design), and writing (both in general and as related to each of these areas).
- Demonstrable expertise in Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred, including but not limited to Audition, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Lightroom.
- Demonstrable ability to integrate assistive AI into teaching.
- Relevant college teaching experience in traditional face-to-face and/or online course platforms strongly preferred.
- Candidates with active research agendas preferred.
- Interest in curricular or program development and internship coordination, and/or leading student organzations preferred.
- Background in instructional design preferred.
- Background in media literacy and willingness to teach Civil Discourse preferred.
