Overview

The Communication Sciences and Disorders - Language Acquisition program at McGill University is designed to provide enriched training focused on the scientific exploration of language acquisition by different kinds of learners in diverse contexts.

Key Features

Students in the Language Acquisition Program are introduced to theoretical and methodological issues on language acquisition from the perspectives of cognitive neuroscience, theoretical linguistics, psycholinguistics, education, communication sciences and disorders, and neuropsychology.
In addition to the SCSD Ph.D. requirements, students in this program must complete 3 credits of coursework in language acquisition outside their home department, and three interdisciplinary seminars (2 credits each) and must include a faculty member in the Language Acquisition Program on their thesis committee

General requirements

an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communication Sciences and Disorders, Psychology, Linguistics, Cognitive Science) with a minimum of a B average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). However, note that most admitted students are performing much higher than this level;
proof of English competency, if required.

Tuition Fees

International (Non-residents): 18,762 AUD / year (approx. 18,604 CAD / year)
Domestic (Citizens or residents): 3,052 AUD / year (approx. 3,026 CAD / year)

Living costs

Montréal, Canada: 1,083–1,774 AUD / month

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
