Location: Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.
Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.
Job Summary
The Communications and Marketing Specialist for Graduate Education is a strategic, temporary appointment charged with enhancing and executing comprehensive communication and engagement strategies that support the University of West Georgia's Graduate School. This role is designed to support internal communications by managing high-impact initiatives such as promoting ABM (Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's) pathways, engaging current and prospective students, and collaborating with academic and administrative stakeholders to strengthen recruitment, retention, and graduate program visibility. The position ultimately aims to advance student success and graduate enrollment growth through timely, consistent, and compelling communication.
Responsibilities
Strategic Campaign Development and Enrollment Communication: Design and manage multichannel communication flows for prospective, admitted, and enrolled graduate students using Slate and/or Emma. Create targeted messaging campaigns to support application completion, admission confirmation, enrollment, and ABM promotion. Build annual communication calendars and campaign timelines that align with strategic enrollment goals. Evaluate campaign performance, response rates, and engagement metrics to inform future efforts.
Internal Stakeholder Communication & Coordination: Develop toolkits, scripts, email templates, and presentations to support faculty, program coordinators, and enrollment managers in their communication with students. Coordinate with academic departments and admissions to ensure accurate, timely, and aligned messaging. Collaborate with University Communications & Marketing to align graduate-level messaging with broader institutional efforts. Act as a liaison for organizational change messaging related to graduate enrollment strategies.
Social Media and Engagement Content: Manage and grow Graduate School-affiliated social media channels to promote programs, highlight alumni, and increase student engagement. Feature graduate student success stories, alumni testimonials, faculty spotlights, and program outcomes. Develop and maintain a content calendar in coordination with other UWG communication efforts. Monitor engagement and use analytics to refine messaging and timing.
ABM (Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's) Pathway Communications: Partner with Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate Enrollment to create marketing materials and digital campaigns that promote ABM programs. Develop email campaigns, website content, and presentation materials to inform students and advisors about ABM opportunities. Track ABM interest and engagement through inquiry and campaign data to support targeted follow-up. Graduate Student Communications & Retention: Coordinate a graduate student newsletter focused on resources, deadlines, events, and success stories. Develop welcome and orientation communication templates. Support graduate support services in messaging related to advising, registration, and graduation.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree
Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Higher Education, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, digital marketing, or enrollment management or a master's degree in a related area. Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Slate, Emma), social media management tools, and basic design/editing platforms. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills tailored for digital audiences. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications: Masters Degree
Preferred Experience: Experience in higher education marketing, preferably at the graduate level. Familiarity with CRM systems, automated campaigns, and student engagement analytics. Understanding of ABM and graduate-level recruitment processes.
Proposed Salary
$60,000 annually
