Are you a proactive communicator with a flair for organisation and digital content? Join the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) as a Communications Assistant and help shape the way we connect with staff and students across our department.
The NHLI is a world-leading department for research and education in cardiovascular and respiratory science, and part of Imperial’s Faculty of Medicine.
This is a varied and engaging role supporting internal and external communications, events, and digital platforms across NHLI.
What you would be doing:
- Support the creation and delivery of internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media posts, and blog content
- Assist with maintaining and updating the NHLI website and internal communications channels
- Coordinate logistics for departmental events and meetings, including room bookings and catering
- Develop and maintain distribution lists and support online and in-person engagement activities
- Attend planning meetings and follow up on actions to ensure smooth delivery of communications and events
What we are looking for:
- Experience providing communications and administrative support in a professional setting
- Experience creating digital and printed content for internal audiences
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple communication channels and competing deadlines
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (including Teams), with familiarity in SharePoint, AV systems, or website platforms

NHLI is one of the largest departments in the world undertaking heart, lung and vascular research. Our work spans basic science, translational research, and clinical application, with strong links to NHS partners and global collaborators. We are home to several major research centres, including the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence and the Margaret Turner Warwick Centre for Fibrosing Lung Disease.
