About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in delivering communications for a new UK-wide birth cohort study, following the lives of 30,000 babies born in 2026.

Based at the UCL Centre for Longitudinal studies (CLS), Generation New Era (GNE) is the sixth in the UK’s unique series of national birth cohort studies following generations born in 1946, 1958, 1970, 1989-90 and 2000-02.

Under the direction of the GNE study leaders and the CLS Senior Communications Manager, the postholder will implement a multi-stakeholder communications and engagement plan for the new study. This will include managing the study’s participant website and social content, corporate web pages, and email newsletters, managing the production of printed communications materials for participants, advising on brand usage and accessibility, and supporting the delivery of media outreach.

As a core member of the GNE study team, the GNE Communications & Engagement Manager will work alongside the study co-directors, survey managers and external partners to deliver this ambitious programme of work. In carrying out their responsibilities, they will be able to draw on the expertise of specialist colleagues within the wider CLS Communications & Engagement team.

About you

You will have a demonstrable track record in a strategic communications, public relations, public engagement or marketing role for a complex organisation or partnership, including experience of delivering multi-channel communications campaigns. You will have excellent digital skills and writing skills together with up-to-date knowledge of accessibility and inclusivity in communications. You will be experienced at managing projects, deadlines, suppliers and budgets.
