JOB SUMMARY: The Communications & Events Manager supports the NDSCS Alumni Foundation’s mission and visibility through the creation of engaging content, strategic communications, and the execution of high-impact events. This position ensures consistent messaging across all channels while also supporting the planning and logistics of events that connect alumni, donors, and community partners with the college and Foundation.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Marketing

  • Develop and manage content calendars for digital and print platforms.
  • Create newsletters, fundraising appeals, event invitations, and impact stories.
  • Maintain and update the Foundation’s website and social media channels with fresh and relevant content.
  • Collaborate with NDSCS Marketing on print and digital design, ensuring brand consistency across all materials.
  • Track and analyze engagement metrics from email campaigns and social media to inform future strategies.

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Plan, promote, and execute Foundation-led events, including: DREAMS Auction, Scholarship Luncheons, Homecoming Activities, Donor Appreciation Events, Cultivation Dinners and Meet & Greets
  • Manage logistics, including invitations, guest lists, signage, materials, and on-site coordination.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Assist with scheduling, supply management, and basic office coordination.
  • Partner with development staff on campaign logistics, mailings, and event follow-up.
  • Maintain organized records related to marketing, event planning, and communications.

Benefits

NDSCS offers a comprehensive benefits package with an estimated value of over $30,000. The package includes single or family health insurance coverage with premiums paid for by the College, with an effective date for new employees the first of the month following the date of hire. Other benefits include basic life insurance, annual and sick leave, retirement plan, tuition waiver, spouse/dependent tuition discount, and employee assistance program. Optional benefits include life, dental, and vision insurance, a flexible spending account, and supplemental retirement plans.

SALARY: $50,000-$58,000, commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with social media management and digital content creation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with event coordination and logistics.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A passion for supporting alumni relations and higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in event coordination, marketing, or nonprofit communications.
  • Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Bloomerang), and social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Familiarity with website management and basic HTML.
  • Ability to create compelling and creative content for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of donor communications and fundraising practices.
  • Experience with data analysis and using metrics to drive strategy.
  • Familiarity with NDSCS and its alumni, donors, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
