Job Description:

The Compliance Coordinator I works under supervision and is responsible for the execution of department day to day oversight and management of compliance initiatives, records management, and public information request. Monitors compliance with federal, state, and Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) regulatory and governing standards, including but not limited to policies, procedures, rules, and directives, as well as compliance own internal and external policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs compliance activities designed to assist management in the attainment of organizational objectives.
  • Assists in preparing for upcoming audits by scheduling and conducting compliance reviews of policies, regulations, rules and procedures. Coordinates and assist with records, reports, initiatives, and communications.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and/or conducts compliance investigations. Maintains compliance files and records.
  • Develops a strategy for the efficient and effective completion of projects. Recommends program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Recognizes potential operational risks of non-compliance and makes appropriate recommendations based on documentation and relevant facts.
  • Analyzes newly enacted legislation and reports all new requirements to management along with a recommended plan of action for compliance.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports. Prepare correspondence, compile data, and produce reports.
  • Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of databases of all rules and procedures required by the TAMUS and any additional rules and procedures needed for operations as determined by administration.
  • Identifies records to purge in conjunction with the TAMUS records retention schedule; coordinates and recommends destruction of records; promotes records retention annually to campus as required by TAMUS policy; and coordinates and leads departmental record retention representatives.
  • Plans, coordinate, facilitate and/or conducts compliance related trainings for compliance related areas to promote university-wide awareness and compliance. In coordination with other offices, develops and carries out training in a variety of media.
  • Serves as a liaison, answers customer questions, and responds to requests.
  • Provides reports on all compliance efforts as needed; serves on committees as needed.
  • Maintain purchasing information needed to complete monthly reconciliation reports.
  • Prepare correspondence, compile data, and produce comprehensive reports.
  • Serves as a liaison, answers customer questions, and responds to requests.
  • Maintains Institutional Compliance Offices webpage and updates as needed.
  • Assist with promotion, set up, and takedown of department events and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and Governmental Accounting Standards (GAS)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Teams, Outlook, and Excel.

Minimum Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience in the following Systems: GovQA, Workday, Microsoft, concur, or Emburse.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential/private information and communications.

Salary: $36,512.00

Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Supervision of Others: This position does not supervise employees directly; however, occasionally can be asked to provide oversight for student workers.

Work Location: This is not a remote position. The selected candidate will be required to work on campus.
