Job Summary

Under general supervision of Unit Director, Ethics and Compliance, responsible for effective interpretation and monitoring of the Georgia Board of Regents' and Georgia Techs policies regarding conflicts of interest (COI), ethics and compliance, Georgia laws, and federal regulations, and of employee codes of conduct related to conflict of interest, ethics and compliance. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Senior management, Georgia Tech faculty, researchers, and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: Senior management, Georgia Tech faculty, researchers, and staff. This position will supervise: N/A.

Responsibilities

  • Job Duty 1- Review faculty, staff, and researchers' financial disclosures for potential conflicts of interest and make an initial determination (based on a review of relevant policy/regulation) as to whether a potential conflict exists.
  • Job Duty 2- Review GTRI's business practices to ensure pertinent regulations are followed, identify areas of non-compliance, and create a plan to implement changes as needed. Assist GTRI in the development and review of their policies and procedures related to ethics, compliance, and conflict of interest.
  • Job Duty 3- Support development of training and education programs on all relevant conflict of interest, ethics, and compliance areas within GTRI.
  • Job Duty 4- Track and interpret laws or regulations impacting the business and offer suggestions to functional managers seeking to ensure compliance. Support efforts in responding to regulators and auditors and conducts monthly compliance checks aligned with FAR/DCAA requirements.
  • Job Duty 5- Support the implementation of policies and procedures meant to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Support the implementation of cross-functional compliance initiatives (e.g., Timesheet Compliance Phase Two process improvement implementation, cybersecurity, third-party risk).
  • Job Duty 6- Provide mentoring to Compliance Officers, faculty, and staff.
  • Job Duty 7- Serve as the primary point of contact for ABFR reviews and day-to-day management of the ABFR system. Conduct monthly compliance checks.
  • Job Duty 8- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Four to six years of compliance, auditing, or other related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Member of the Georgia Bar or ability to become licensed as a member of the Georgia Bar within 12 months of hire; Prior experience working in federal, state, local government, in-house legal team, law firm, or higher education institution.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Juris Doctorate or Master's degree highly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience
Higher education experience.

Proposed Salary

$72,783.00 Min - $98,986.00 MRP
