Summary
The Undergraduate Academic Program Coordinator administers
undergraduate academic program processes for the Department of
Computer Science (CS) within the College of Engineering and Applied
Science (EAS). The position has delegated responsibility for
evaluating transfer and other prior academic credit, applying
faculty-approved curricula and academic policies, contributing to
continuous-improvement activities associated with ABET
accreditation, and supporting consistent, documented academic
decisions across the department's undergraduate programs. The
position exercises discretion and independent professional judgment
in resolving complex academic records and determining course
equivalency, degree applicability, prerequisite satisfaction, and
other academic requirements, while referring substantive curricular
or policy questions to appropriate faculty or academic leadership.
The position serves as a department resource and subject-matter
expert on transfer, articulation, and academic program
administration, maintains institutional knowledge and documentation
of academic decisions, and develops procedures and training
materials that promote consistent practices across programs. The
position collaborates with faculty, academic advisors, Admissions,
the Registrar, and other university offices to carry out these
responsibilities.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are
not limited to:
(50%) Academic Evaluation and Program Administration
- Evaluate transfer, concurrent-enrollment, examination, and
other prior coursework for equivalency and applicability to CS
undergraduate programs using discretion and independent
judgment.
- Review academic records and supporting course information to
determine satisfaction of program admission, Engineering Intent,
prerequisite, and degree requirements.
- Interpret and apply university policy, faculty-approved
curricula, articulation agreements, and established academic
precedents.
- Refer novel or substantive curricular questions to appropriate
faculty or academic leadership and document resulting
decisions.
- Resolve or coordinate complex academic-record issues affecting
student matriculation, program admission, and academic
progression.
(25%) Articulation and Institutional Knowledge
Management
- Maintain records of course equivalencies, articulation
agreements, faculty decisions, curricular substitutions, effective
dates, and related academic precedents.
- Translate faculty determinations and established precedents
into documented equivalency rules, procedures, and guidance for
consistent future application.
- Review and update equivalencies when curricula, academic
policies, or courses change.
- Maintain accessible institutional knowledge supporting
consistent academic evaluation, advising, program review, and
accreditation.
(15%) Procedures, Training, and Coordination
- Develop and maintain procedures, reference materials, decision
guides, and training resources for academic evaluation and related
program processes.
- Provide subject-matter expertise, training, and consultation to
faculty and staff on evaluation procedures, academic requirements,
articulation practices, and escalation of curricular
questions.
- Coordinate with EAS and university offices responsible for
admissions, advising, transfer credit, registration, degree audit,
and student records.
- Identify recurring problems or inconsistent practices and
recommend improvements to processes, systems, documentation, and
training.
(10%) Accreditation, Assessment, and Continuous
Improvement
- Maintain and provide documentation related to transfer credit,
curricular requirements, student progression, and graduation
requirements for ABET accreditation and program review.
- Evaluate and support improvement of administrative processes to
ensure consistent implementation of approved curricula and
applicable accreditation requirements.
- Compile and analyze academic records, evaluation histories, and
related information for accreditation, assessment, and
program-review activities.
- Identify trends and process issues affecting transfer students,
academic progression, or curriculum administration and recommend
improvements.

Qualifications :
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer
science, higher education administration, education, engineering, a
STEM discipline, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven track record in administering or supporting academic
programs, transfer-credit evaluation, curriculum administration,
degree audit, academic advising, student records, or related
higher-education functions.
- Proven track record interpreting and applying academic
policies, curricula, student records, or other complex requirements
requiring independent judgment and discretion.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining procedures,
documentation, training materials, or institutional knowledge
resources.
- Demonstrated ability to provide subject-matter expertise and
coordinate complex academic processes across faculty, staff, and
administrative units.
A master's degree in computer science, higher education
administration, engineering, a STEM discipline, or a related field
is preferred. Experience with engineering or STEM curricula,
transfer and articulation processes, student-information or
degree-audit systems, and ABET or other specialized accreditation
is highly desirable.
