POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary role of the Content Creation Specialist is to execute and support efforts to increase visibility and interest in the University of Minnesota Technological Leadership Institute (TLI). Responsibilities include assisting in planning and execution of all marketing and communications efforts. The successful candidate will have strong writing and storytelling skills and be able to create compelling, audience-focused content across platforms. They will be able to translate complex academic and career-focused information into clear, engaging stories. They must also be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail, prioritize and meet deadlines, and work well in a team environment.

APPOINTMENT DETAILS
This is a 100% time, 12-month, Civil Service position; salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. TLI staff operate on a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote. In-person presence is required for various events such as TLI graduation ceremony, Capstone Week presentations, alumni and community building events, and staff retreats. The Content Creation Specialist reports to the Digital Marketing & Communications Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Development & Management (40%)
- Research, identify, and develop compelling stories featuring TLI students, alumni, faculty, staff, industry partners, programs, and initiatives.
- Write and edit compelling, audience-centered content in a variety of formats, including feature stories, social media, email campaigns, blog articles, interviews, profiles, testimonials, web content, and newsletters.
- Write and edit marketing materials for the TLI website, social media, newsletters, emails, and other various marketing-communications platforms.
- Translate complex academic, technical, and professional information into clear and engaging stories that help audiences understand the relevance and value of TLI's
programs and opportunities.
- Ensure digital content is compliant with federal digital accessibility regulations and University policies.
- Effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format.
- Create and maintain editorial calendars and syndication schedules for articles, social media and event promotion.
 

Social Media Marketing (30%)
- Collaborate with Digital Marketing & Communications Director to build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.
- Develop, edit, publish, and share platform-appropriate content-including short-form video, images, and text-based content-from TLI stories, campaigns, events, student
and alumni experiences, and other institute activities.
- Modify content for different social media platforms in consideration of audience, platform-specific formats, and engagement styles.
- Stay informed of social media standards and best practices.
- Leverage stakeholder relationships to generate earned media.
- Continuously improve social performance by capturing, analyzing and reporting on the appropriate KPIs/metrics and insights.
- Create ad hoc monthly and quarterly performance reports.
 

Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement (30%)
- Generate interviews, articles, and press releases having an alumni or stakeholder / TLI nexus.
- Generate annual and ad-hoc surveys for stakeholders.
- Add and maintain contacts in the Salesforce CRM system

 Location: University of Minnesota, East Bank campus

 Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday
  • 40 hours per week
  • Weekends as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
- Demonstrated experience writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience developing compelling narratives for different audiences and communication channels.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and develop story ideas, conduct interviews, and turn complex information or individual experiences into clear, engaging, audience-centered content.
- Demonstrated relationship building experience.
- Excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking, and time management.
- Demonstrated commitment to generating content inclusive to all audiences.
 

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing for and contributing to a Drupal content management system.
- Experience working with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Experience using Salesforce CRM and/or Marketing Cloud
- Experience with creating and editing videos.
- Experience with generating earned media.
- Demonstrated strong client communication and interaction.
- Demonstrated experience fostering a cooperative work environment.

Pay and Benefits

 


Pay Range: $26.45-$28.85 ($55,016-$60,008); depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
