- Remuneration: $138,193 to $156,633 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $116,774 to $132,357 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
- Location: Kelvin Grove (hybrid option available)
- Open to: Current staff members of QUT who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the fixed-term appointment. Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Coordinator, Candidature & Examinations to join Office of Research Services, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.
As the Coordinator, Candidature and Examinations in the Graduate Research Centre you are responsible for providing leadership to a team who primarily provide administrative support for higher degree by research programs, facilitates the provision of advice on policy and process, promotes delivery of high quality, efficient, cost-effective and targeted services, embedding a student-focused culture of innovation, team-work and continuous improvement. You will develop, nurture and maintain strong working relationships with HDR students, academic supervisors and the Directors of Research Training/HDR Academic Leads to ensure that service provision is effective, efficient and aligns with QUT and the Faculty/Centre strategic and policy directions.

The Graduate Research Centre (GRC) at QUT provides exceptional service and support to Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students. Through the provision of tailored support services, the GRC puts the student at the centre of what we do, striving to exceed the expectations of our HDR students and supervisors from admission through to graduation. The GRC includes two dedicated teams working collaboratively to provide seamless, client-focused, efficient and effective services to HDR students. The Client Services Team acts as the key point of contact and provides a high level of consistent service provision to support HDR students and supervisors during the entire student lifecycle, ensuring continuous improvement of the student and client customer experience. The Admin Services Team delivers operational services, governance and support to ensure a streamlined student research journey..
What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
- Extensive experience leading, developing and managing a collaborative and highly engaged team.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in liaising on complex and sensitive matters with prospective and enrolled postgraduate research students, academic staff and administrative staff, within central administration, Faculties, Institutes, schools, centres and other sections of the University.
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialised advice, articulate research training goals and plans, interpret complex guidelines and communicate HDR candidature and examination issues professionally and effectively to HDR students, academic staff, and administrative staff in Faculties, Divisions, Institutes and other areas.
- Demonstrated high level verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate, consult, negotiate and liaise with service partners.
- Proven ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads in order to meet deadlines in an environment of competing demands.
- Demonstrated digital literacy skills with a large range of software, and the capacity to quickly learn new systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
