The CSTEP Coordinator, Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), serves as a key member of the Pathways Center team and provides holistic advising, student success coaching, career development, and program coordination for CSTEP participants. CSTEP provides academic enrichment, research experiences, and professional development for eligible students pursuing majors leading to careers in STEM and health-related fields and professional licensure.
Working collaboratively with the CSTEP team, faculty, academic departments, Jasper Central, the Pathways Center, and other campus and external partners, the CSTEP Coordinator supports students throughout their academic and professional journeys. The position maintains an assigned caseload of up to 100 students and helps participants connect their academic experiences with career exploration, experiential learning, research, professional licensure, graduate and professional school, and employment.
The CSTEP Coordinator also coordinates CSTEP programming and signature events, contributes to student recruitment and retention initiatives, supports the CSTEP Summer Program, and tracks student participation and outcomes for program assessment and state reporting.
The position is grant-funded, with continuation contingent upon grant renewal and available funding.
Student Success Coaching and Advising
- Serve as the primary advisor and success coach for an assigned caseload of up to 100 CSTEP students.
- Provide continuous wrap-around support across a student's academic career, focused on academic achievement, persistence, career exploration, and post-graduate planning.
- Conduct regular individual check-ins with students to monitor academic progress and identify opportunities and barriers to success.
- Connect students with appropriate academic, financial aid, student support, and campus resources.
- Maintain an open-door approach to advising and provide responsive support to CSTEP participants.
- Utilize University student success systems to support student persistence and retention.
- Help students develop individualized academic, career, and post-graduate plans aligned with their interests, strengths, and goals.
Career and Post-Graduate Development
- Support students in exploring careers that relate to their professional aspirations, including professional licensure, graduate and professional education, and employment.
- Help students understand how CSTEP experiences, including research, internships, mentoring, and academic enrichment, contribute to career readiness and post-graduate preparation.
Program Development and Student Engagement
- Serve as lead for designated CSTEP signature programs and events, including but not limited to Alumni Night and Career Fair Preparation Days.
- Coordinate CSTEP workshops, activities, and student development programs throughout the academic year.
- Support the coordination and implementation of the CSTEP six-week Summer Program.
- Develop programming that supports academic achievement, career readiness, professional development, research, and post-graduate success.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty and Jasper Central, to support CSTEP's mission and student outcomes.
- Encourage student participation in research, internships, leadership opportunities, mentoring, and other experiential learning activities.
Recruitment and Outreach
- Contribute to CSTEP recruitment efforts throughout the academic year.
- Participate in University open houses and other recruitment and outreach events.
- Support the development and implementation of CSTEP marketing and recruitment campaigns.
- Communicate the academic, research, career, and post-graduate benefits of CSTEP to prospective and current students.
- Develop relationships with campus partners to increase awareness of CSTEP opportunities and eligibility.
Assessment and Program Administration
- Track student participation, engagement, academic progress, and program outcomes.
- Maintain accurate student records and program documentation.
- Collect and organize data required for CSTEP state reporting.
- Monitor student participation in CSTEP programs, activities, and services.
- Contribute to program assessment and continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare reports and other documentation as required by CSTEP and the University.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed to support the mission, goals, and effective operations of the program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- At least one year of experience working with college students in a similar program or related student support setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of CSTEP and supporting students pursuing STEM and health-related fields.
- Experience working with CSTEP, TRIO, STEM access, opportunity programs, or other programs serving historically underrepresented students preferred.
- Experience providing academic advising, student support, mentoring, coaching, or related services.
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, event management, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Commitment to holistic student development, student success, and inclusive excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
- Completed or in-process Master's degree.
- Prior familiarity with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application, preferably SLATE.
