Coordinator, Guin Fit Nutrition Strategy

Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to the implementation of the Guin Fit Initiative's nutrition and healthy food access strategy within Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties. Works to improve access to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate foods through partnerships with community organizations, food pantries, schools, health centers, and food banks. Oversees the development and implementation of food service guidelines, produce prescription (PRx) and voucher programs, and other policies, systems, and environmental (PSE) interventions designed to advance health equity and reduce chronic disease. Works under general supervision and may make some work procedural decisions which do not contravene policies; generally, determines work sequences (which task comes first) within any department/divisional guidelines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Supports the design and implementation of nutrition-focused strategies aligned with CDC REACH objectives.

Coordinates partner engagement for food service guideline adoption and produce prescription programming. Oversees logistics related to produce voucher distribution, participant communications, and redemption tracking.

Assists in developing culturally appropriate nutrition materials and communication strategies.

Collaborates with food pantries, faith-based organizations, and healthcare providers to expand healthy food access.

Builds and maintains relationships with local food systems stakeholders, including food banks, produce distributors, and public health agencies. Supports technical assistance for partner sites implementing nutrition standards or programs.

Represents Guin Fit at partner meetings and regional coalitions related to food and nutrition access.

Participates in community events, outreach, and capacity-building workshops.

Collects and organizes data related to program participation, food environment assessments, and outcomes. Supports continuous quality improvement through data-driven insights and partner feedback. Collaborates with the Evaluation Co-PI and data team to ensure compliance with CDC reporting requirements.

Assists in developing and delivering training materials for community partners, volunteers, and student workers. Contributes to newsletters, reports, and presentations highlighting program impact.

Coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of overall programs and/or services as assigned.

Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives.

Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate.

Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review related to programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components.

Prepares for and attends events.

Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:Assists with training new hires.

Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Equipment Operated:Computer and all other standard office equipment.

Work Schedule:Typically, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening or weekend hours.

Supervision Exercised:May exercise supervision over student employees.

Reports to: Program Director, Guin Fit Initiative

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:Valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of: University policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; department/division policies and procedures*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management.

Skill in: Using strong organizational, communication, and project management skills; use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.

Ability to: Travel to and gain access to work site; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; prepare accurate documentation; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one task to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:At least a bachelor's degree in a related field; at least two years of experience in community nutrition, food access, or public health programming; and a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition, public health, community health, dietetics, nutrition or related discipline. Experience with policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) approaches to nutrition. Familiarity with CDC REACH or similar community health initiatives. Knowledge of local food systems, produce distribution, or SNAP-Ed programming. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data tracking systems.
