Schedule both on-campus and online orientation events.
Build events and programs in Slate, the CRM and event
management system.
Coordinating communication and outreach efforts to new
students.
Assist Director in researching best practice for orientation
programs: in person and virtual; providing NSO with up-to-date
methods.
Managing the student and guest registration system.
Assist Director with NSO website content; coordinating, editing
and updating timelines; and managing maintenance.
Oversee social media content, including creation and analytic
tracking.
Marketing events by promoting NSO to new students and
families.
Assist Director in collecting and analyzing program data and
preparing weekly, monthly, and end of year reports to improve
programming.
Business & Finance Operations
- Support NSO budget administration, including student fee
reporting and programmatic budget needs.
- Oversight of student timesheets.
- Assist the Business Services Coordinator, the STFE AVC, and the
NSO Director in analyzing and interpreting budgets; forecasting
spending projections and needs.
- Determines department purchasing needs and work with the
Business Services Coordinator to execute the ordering for
purchases.
- Works with the NSO Director to determine appropriate account
for all allocation of expenses and ensures financial transactions
are appropriate and comply with all relevant University regulations
and policies.
- Supports the Business Services Coordinator to produce monthly
financial expense reports and forecast analysis meetings with
Director.
- Regularly meet, collaborate, advise, and recommend strategy to
the Director and Business Coordinator on financial decisions,
expenditure forecast projections, and resource allocations;
Identify potential shortfalls, and make strategic recommendations
for any necessary adjustments associated with operations accounts
and personnel spending, in alignment with the university's
strategic initiatives.
- Assist with Family Engagement programs as needed.
HR & Student Supervision
- Supervise student staff (15-20 student orientation
leaders).
- Responsible for interviewing (including assessment tools),
hiring, and onboarding student Orientation Leaders; this includes
coordinating student training and development.
- Work with Business Coordinator to develop and analyze job
descriptions to appropriate job code and compensation.
- Handshake oversight for student hiring.
- Processes and approves bi-weekly timesheets for student
employees.
- Help create, implement and manage student staff performance and
development.
Q
ualifications you already possess (Minimum
Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of
hire.
- A bachelor's degree in education, communication, social
science, psychology, business, counseling, or a directly related
field from an accredited institution.
- One (1) year of professional level experience working with
student populations, which may include experience in orientation,
transfer, first- year programs and/or related setting in higher
education.
Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional, including
graduate-level experience may be substituted for the bachelor's
degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred
Qualifications)
- A Master's Degree in education, communication, social science,
psychology, business, counseling, or a directly related field from
an accredited institution
- Demonstrated professional experience in program management and
evaluation in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with integrated student information systems
and event management software (e.g., CU-SIS, Cognos, Slate, and so
on).
- Experience hiring, training and/or developing student
workers.
- Experience with budget planning and fiscal management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and
orally.
- Knowledge of best practices in college student
development.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees at all levels throughout the
institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Time management skills to identify and prioritize duties

- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with student development and retention theories and
frameworks.
Conditions of Employment
- Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be
required.
- This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees
can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands
of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the
office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high
degree of collaboration.
- April – August are peak operational times for orientations and
flexibility is expected during these months of the year to meet
operational demands and deadlines.
Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
- This position may be performed in a hybrid or remote
environment, requiring the ability to work effectively in a remote
setting. This includes maintaining a dedicated workspace free of
excessive noise or distractions, reliable internet connectivity,
and the ability to participate in virtual meetings for extended
periods. Employees must be able to independently manage time,
remain stationary for prolonged computer-based work, and transport
necessary equipment (such as a laptop and peripherals) between
their remote work location and the office as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been
established at $59,400 – 61,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set
based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to,
internal equity, experience, education, specialty and
training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the
University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of
possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is/is
not eligible for overtime compensation. Your total compensation
goes beyond the number on your paycheck. The University of Colorado
