Job Description

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginias capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Coordinator of Humanities Partnerships is responsible for the coordination and administration of external partnerships— K-12, community, workforce— that attract a diverse student population in support of the Colleges enrollment targets. To support the development of the SHSS efforts to build a Humanities in Practice Program.

SHSS Dual Enrollment and Early College Academy Functions

  • Observe and evaluate DE faculty in HSS sections including special tracking of those who teach DE & college sections
  • Maintain internal partnerships between HSS, the Office of Dual Enrollment, Admissions, and the ECA Site Coordinator in support of AS degree students in the Early College Academy
  • Coordinaate messaging with discipline-specific PHs to be sure faculty have sample syllabi, course content summaries, content and policy expectations for each DE class
  • As possible, recruit DE discipline liaisons from HSS full-time faculty
  • Assess readiness of faculty to teach DE classes through transcript evaluation for Reynolds and K-12 partner faculty
  • Oversee submission of required documents for each DE section at the start of the term (syllabi & office hours) and upon the conclusion of the term (attendance & final exams)
  • Outreach to faculty with outstanding submissions (in above item)
  • Assist with the general education assessment / collection efforts for DE sections in HSS
  • Serve as a point of contact for K-12 faculty and schools
  • Facilitate an Early College Academy Class as needed in the event of instructor absence

External Partner Outreach and Coordination

  • Assist the Associate Dean with the support of Humanities-based workforce partnerships
  • Work with HSS front office staff on tracking efforts for current partnershps and MOAs/ MOUs
  • Provide outreach/follow-up support to Department Chairs with internship programs on partnerships / relationship-building
  • Coordinate submission of MOUs/ MOAs to VP of Finance and Administration

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Experience teaching high school dual enrollment courses or courses in a community college setting.
  • Experience observing, evaluating and/or onboarding faculty. Knowledge of academic requirements, qualifications, and college operations.
  • Knowledge of Virginias educational initiatives for high school students, and the high school dual enrollment process.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively comprehend, interpret, and communicate policies and procedures based on various levels of program inquiries.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise students resulting in increased enrollment and student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize personal computers using current Microsoft Office products and educational software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain accurate records while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Selected candidate must be able to pass the colleges pre-employment security screening.

Additional Considerations

  • Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field of the humanities. Preference for those with 18+ graduate credit hours in English.
  • Current experience working with a diverse population of individuals in an advisory or counseling capacity or fostering academic partnerships is preferred.
  • Current experience working in a college, high school or similar educational environment is also preferred.

Work Location: Richmond (City) - 760

Hiring Range: $67,000 maximum; salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant.
