GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Coordinator of Sports Performance is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the intercollegiate strength & conditioning program for all varsity teams. This position will work closely with the athletic training staff, coaches and student-athletes, in order to implement policies and procedures for strength & conditioning. The Coordinator for Sports Performance will also oversee Athletic Facility and Fitness Center. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. This is a full-time 12 month appointment which includes nights and weekends.
The Facility Manager will share in responsibility to manage the athletic facilities. As Facility Manager, this person will oversee the fitness center; will manage some night and weekend operations for the Athletic Center. This position will also be responsible for reserving and managing external groups that are interested in renting space within the athletics complex.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement and evaluate the Strength & Conditioning program for varsity sports programs for performance enhancement and injury prevention.
- Instruct and monitor student-athletes regarding best practices with weight training techniques.
- Collaborate with athletic trainers and medical staff to assess and monitor athletes' fitness levels, and implement strategies for injury prevention and rehabilitation through proper training techniques and recovery protocols.
- Regularly assess and track the progress of athletes, adjusting programs based on performance, physical assessments, and feedback from coaches and medical staff. Ensure programs are updated to address the evolving needs of athletes throughout the season and year-round. Maintain a positive working relationship with all administration, coaching, and institutional personnel.
- Foster a positive, motivating, and performance-driven environment within the weight room, helping athletes develop both physical strength and mental resilience to achieve peak performance under pressure.
- Educate student-athletes on proper training techniques, nutrition, hydration, recovery strategies, and the importance of maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle to support long-term athletic development.
- Work closely with coaching staff to understand specific team needs, offering recommendations and strategies that complement team goals and enhance overall athletic success.
- Ensure the weight room and strength and conditioning equipment are maintained, safe, and functional. Oversee daily operations of the strength and conditioning facility, including scheduling, cleanliness, and organization.
- Ensure safe operation of Fitness Center through the implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Oversee operations of the fitness center and weight room.
- Schedule and manage the faculty/staff and student aerobics schedule.
- Assist with the hiring and training of student employees to work in the fitness center.
- Supervise the Athletics Center and athletic fields for night and weekend operations as assigned.
- Responsible for the generation of revenue by attracting quality external organizations and events for rental of athletic facilities.
- Produce publicity, public relations and marketing pieces that will serve to maximize income and use of facilities.
- Work with the Assistant Director of Athletics to assist in the athletic facility schedules for the Athletic Center/athletic fields use by external groups.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attend University functions of general importance to the student body upon request.
- Provides information, in a timely manner, upon request from the Director of Athletics, Deputy Director of Athletics or Head Athletic Trainer.
- Upholds confidentiality for student-athletes and their well-being.

- Responsible for upholding federal, state and local laws and for enforcing University policies with special attention to the University Alcohol Policy.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to work evening, weekends, and holidays as playing and practice season schedule dictates. Ability to lift and move heavy weights and equipment. Ability to stand, walk, and work in a physically demanding environment for extended periods.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required, preferred Master's Degree with experience working in intercollegiate athletics or a related field with similar experience. Possess and maintain CSCS and AED/CPR & First Aid Certification. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required. Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese are strongly encouraged to apply.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit with a union title of Staff Associate. The starting salary range is $70,000-72,000.
