Job Description Summary

The Coordinator of Student Involvement advances the mission and vision of the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) by managing the operations, programs, and advising structures of the Student Union (Campus Programming Board) and student-led events. The Coordinator manages data and transactions within the campus-wide engagement platform. They oversee signature campus events, support financial and administrative functions of student-led programming, and leverage technology and systems to enhance campus engagement.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all aspects of the Student Union (campus programming board), including member recruitment, training, transition, advising, event coordination, and assessment.
  • Audit and manage the Student Union budget and supports all Student Activities Fee (SAF) requests related to Student Union’s campus-wide programming.
  • Serve as administrator of The Link, the campus engagement platform. Ensure functionality, communication, and training for faculty, staff and students.
  • Coordinate signature events such as Lighting of the Quad, President’s Ball, and Founders Fest.
  • Develop and execute programming to enhance the social experience for students in partnership with student organizations and student leaders.
  • Manage the process of event planning for student groups and organizations, ensuring adherence to university policy and risk mitigation.
  • Serve as an event advisor for student organizations engaging in the OSE event planning process, providing expert guidance to students on logistics, policy, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop tools and resources to support the event planning process for student organizations.
  • Provide guidance to a team of undergraduate student employees focused on event planning.
  • Assist with planning and implementing OSE events, such as the student involvement fairs.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director and Executive Director to assess program effectiveness, track outcomes, and recommend improvements to ensure alignment with office mission and strategic priorities.
  • Collect, analyze, and report student engagement data through outcome-based assessments and strategic storytelling.

Other Functions:

  • Serve on departmental, divisional, and university committees to represent student engagement perspectives.
  • Support OSE programming and departmental events.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure student involvement opportunities are accessible and inclusive of all students.
  • Participate in all departmental professional development activities and campus-wide initiatives.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of experience in student activities, campus programming, or student affairs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading student organizations or programming boards and managing large-scale campus events.
  • Demonstrated experience with event planning and operational logistics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a student-centered approach with the ability to collaborate across a diverse university community.
  • Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply university policies related to risk management, fiscal accountability, and programming.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and event/project management tools.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience managing Campus Labs Engage or similar student involvement platforms.
  • Knowledge of Student Union operations and professional standards from NACA, ACUI, or NASPA.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, event planning logistics, and campus engagement software systems.
  • Training in assessment practices and learning outcome measurement for co-curricular programs.

Accountabilities:

  • This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Organizations and Programs.
  • Provides direct support to Student Union student leaders and collaborates with other professional staff across OSE.
  • Responsible for fiscal management of the Student Union budget and data accuracy within engagement systems.

May occasionally:

  • Move in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments and worksites.
  • Adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • Stand or sit for prolonged periods.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Occasional low and/or high temperatures; outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
  • Occasional noisy environments.
