Pay Range
Compensation for this position is expected to range between $28.85 per hour, in alignment with what California Baptist University (CBU) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. The final rate may vary depending on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and prevailing market conditions. Position Summary Information

Summary
This position will provide support in the administration of the Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education Program (FIPSE). The Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with individual students that promote student satisfaction and retention. They will work as part of a retention team to collaborate with the Offices of Student Success and Academic Advising to implement strategic initiatives designed to enhance student success and retention. These initiatives include implementing a pre-nursing student summer bridge program, a peer mentoring program for first-year students, and providing one on one support to pre-nursing students.

POSITION FUNDED BY EXTERNAL GRANT: Position is funded in whole, or in part, by external grant and is subject to immediate termination if the grant funding ceases. University reserves the right, but not the obligation, to review the position for viability in the absence of grant funds. If the position remains viable, in whole or in part, despite the loss of grant funds, the University, in its sole discretion, may reduce the position to less than full time. The decision to terminate or reduce a position remains within the sole discretion of the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assist in the coordination and administration of the Grant, consistent with the grant application.
  2. Support project activities and contribute to outreach efforts aimed at increasing the access, retention, and graduation of students.
  3. Coordinate services for students participating in program activities.
  4. Serve as a pre-nursing students’ additional point of University contact developing and building supportive relationships with students that promote satisfaction and retention.
  5. Advise pre-nursing students on program requirements, academic policies, rules of matriculation, and procedures, assisting with student scheduling and comprehensive degree planning.
  6. Assist in accurate documentation of Grant fiscal records, student records, and evaluation data.
  7. Support the selection, training, and supervision of student office workers.
  8. Foster collaborative relationships with Academic Advising and the Office of Student Success to ensure effective coordination and utilization of resources to achieve Grant objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage meetings, workshops, and special events.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to investigate issues and resolve concerns effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
