Job Summary:
This role is responsible for coordinating energy conservation, sustainability environment strategies, energy reporting, and commodities tracking.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Coordinates energy conservation, sustainability environment strategies, energy reporting, and commodities tracking and facilitates detailed energy reporting, tracking consumption, electricity, natural gas, water, and sewer commodities
- Maintains effective communications and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, customers, stakeholders, and partners
- Observes safety regulations and participates in an ongoing safety-training programs to cover all aspects of the work performed by the department related to special projects
- Conducts building audits and studies, coordinates energy tracking, performs statistical analysis for strategic planning and forecasting, establishes utility benchmarks, and outlines cost savings targets and objectives
- Provides technical expertise in identification of operational performance improvements and implementation strategies
- Analyzes and provides technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, water, wastewater, irrigation, building envelope, and lighting systems, to recommend improvement measures for equipment and components to minimize utility costs
- Coordinates energy performance contracts, and commissioning objectives
- Reviews and makes recommendations for changes and improvements for all repair, renovation, and construction projects to address engineering design standards to incorporate energy and sustainability elements
- Assists Capital Planning and Project Management staff throughout the asset life cycle and provides technical assistance to the Facilities Operation Team on the proper operational methods and procedures for electrical, mechanical, and HVAC control systems
- Provides ongoing leadership for contractors and other non-employees acting as a liaison between contractors, design consultants, and staff to ensure the implementation and completion of coordinated energy initiatives
- Provides necessary reporting and filing of documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements on energy usage, evaluations, special funding, grants, and other means to achieve energy-saving and sustainable initiatives
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the Essential Performance Requirements*
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
- Works under the general supervision of the assigned department leadership

Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements, or any equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a closely related technical field
- Current Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- Current certification or related training in MS SQL, MS Access, TMA, Datatel, AutoCAD, Arc-Info, ArcGIS, Adobe, Visio, lnlight and ROAM lighting controls, Reliable Controls, Andover Continuum, Schneider PME, BaseLine irrigation controls, BACNET, or Modbus protocols
- At least one (1) year’s working experience in higher education related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Technical knowledge of utility and building system operations, with proficiencies in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, control systems, distribution systems
- Skilled in using computer applications with IT infrastructure and communication
- Skilled in computerized systems such as databases, CMMS, CAD, GIS, typical office software, building automation, and utility monitoring/metering systems
- Skilled in providing systems solutions in a compliance-oriented environment
- Skilled in customer service and interpersonal relations
- Ability to recommend innovative approaches for utility efficiency gains or cost savings
- Ability to manage tasks under pressure while meeting tight deadlines, and managing multiple, complex projects simultaneously
- Ability to influence managers and their respective reports
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
- Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
