Counselor-Limited Term
Job Summary
The Counselor Limited Term position provides individual, couples/relational, group psychotherapy, and crisis intervention to students, treatment plan development, case management, care coordination, client advocacy, crisis intervention, consultation and administration, and interpretation of assessment instruments. This position develops and delivers psychoeducational presentations, trainings and programs focused on promotion of emotional wellness and prevention of mental illness.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
STUDENT COUNSELING DUTIES: Provide individual, group, and couples/relational psychotherapy to students, including administration and interpretation of assessment instruments, treatment plan development, case management, care coordination, client advocacy, crisis intervention, and consultation. Maintain adequate and appropriate documentation of counseling records. Provide clinical supervision to master's level counseling interns/trainees.
WORKSHOPS & OUTREACH: Develop and conduct psycho-educational workshops, class presentations, and other outreach programs to address the preventative and developmental needs of students. Collaborate with other campus departments, campus committees, and student organizations to provide joint programming for students. Provide training to appropriate campus organizations, faculty, and staff regarding relevant mental health concerns of university students.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Attend continuing education programs required for professional license and certification maintenance, and maintain the best of current professional trends for university counseling centers.
OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or marital and family therapy by date of hire. Employee must be licensed or eligible to become fully licensed to provide mental health services and treatment independently in the state of Georgia.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in a university counseling center setting. Experience providing group and couples/relational psychotherapy. Experience and proficiency in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of mental health disorders. Experience providing crisis services and treating more severe mental health concerns. Prior clinical experience and expertise with a culturally and clinically diverse caseload. Experience providing outreach presentations on mental health topics relevant to university students. Commitment to a multicultural counseling orientation and understanding of the mental health needs of minoritized individuals and communities.
