Teaching Qualification Requirements
Education
Minimum of a PhD, or Ph.D advanced candidacy in Religious Studies, or related field such as anthropology, sociology, or history with a research focus on religion, preferred.
Experience
The candidate should be able to lecture on religious concepts and rituals to compare various understandings of death in contemporary North America. The ability to also include scientific understandings and biomedical ethics is a plus. The candidate should be able to teach a general understanding of, and critical appreciation for, different outlooks on death and attendant issues by comparing various North American communities. The candidate must have teaching experience in religion or related fields.

The candidate should have research and/or teaching expertise on religion in North America in the modern and contemporary period. Any expertise on relevant topics such as mortuary practices, funeral rituals, or biomedical ethics is a strong plus.
