We are seeking qualified and committed Course Tutors in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to join the Centre for English Language Education (CELE).

About CELE

The CELE at UNNC promotes high-quality EAP teaching and supports academic programmes across China.

  • Staff: ~90 academic members
  • Supports: Preliminary Year modules, presessionals, summer schools, in-sessional language and academic skills programmes

We invite applications from English language teaching professionals with expertise in:

  • EAP/ESP teaching, including online teaching through VLEs
  • EAP/ESP syllabus and curriculum design
  • EAP/ESP assessment
  • Teacher training (CELTA, DELTA, or equivalent preferred)

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Completed MA/MSc in TESOL, ELT, Applied Linguistics, or equivalent (with assessed teaching practicum).
  • Recognized formal Teaching Qualification if not included in degree (e.g., DELTA, DipTESOL, PGCE).
  • English as a first language, or equivalent competence.
  • Substantial experience in full-time EFL and EAP teaching (e.g., UK University summer Presessional teaching).
  • Confidence in analyzing language and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary, multi-cultural environments.
  • IT skills essential, including use of Moodle, Teams, or other VLEs.
  • Good oral, written, and word-processing skills; ability to meet administrative/marking deadlines.

Main Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 18 hours/week on credit-bearing and support EAP/ESP courses.
  • Additional 14 hours/week for preparation, marking, feedback, and administrative duties.
  • Participate in assessments and act as invigilator as required.
  • Provide pastoral and academic support via a personal tutorial system.
  • Contribute to course and curriculum development, including course management.
  • Participate in and contribute to staff development and continuous professional development activities.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Salary: RMB 353,847 – 482,256 per annum (dependent on experience).
  • Attractive package includes accommodation allowance, travel allowance, and medical insurance for international appointments.
  • Initial contract: Fixed term for three years from July 2026 (earlier/later start negotiable).
  • Potential contract extension to indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
  • Location: Face-to-face teaching in Ningbo, China.
