Job Description
Under the direction of the
School of Medicine Facilities
Manager, the
CSM Professional I – Facilities Operations
provides professional facilities management and operational support
for School of Medicine-owned and leased buildings. This position
assists in maintaining safe, compliant, and functional facilities
that support the School's missions of research, medical education,
and clinical training.
The CSM Professional I contributes to the day-to-day operation,
maintenance, and coordination of building systems, infrastructure,
research support equipment, and facility improvement projects. The
position works collaboratively with faculty, researchers, staff,
contractors, and University Facilities personnel to ensure building
systems remain reliable and operational while supporting ongoing
research and educational activities. The Facilities Manager
provides oversight and final authority for major operational
decisions, capital projects, and institutional commitments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facilities Operations & Building Maintenance
- Assist in maintaining the daily operation of School of
Medicine-owned and leased facilities to ensure safe, functional,
and compliant environments for research, education, and
administrative activities.
Conduct routine inspections of building systems, equipment, and
infrastructure to identify maintenance needs, operational concerns,
and safety issues.
Troubleshoot facility-related problems and coordinate
corrective actions under the direction of the Facilities
Manager.
Assist with monitoring building performance and recommending
operational improvements to enhance efficiency and
reliability.
Research Infrastructure Support
- Perform and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for
specialized research support equipment, including:
- Emergency generators
- Oxygen and nitrogen generation systems
- Air compressors
- Autoclaves
- Ultrapure water systems
- Rees environmental monitoring systems
- Coordinate service providers and maintenance schedules to
minimize downtime and support uninterrupted research
operations.
- Maintain maintenance records and equipment documentation to
support compliance and operational continuity.
Facilities Coordination
- Support planning and coordination of building maintenance
activities, utility outages, equipment shutdowns, and
infrastructure repairs.
- Communicate planned maintenance activities and operational
impacts to building occupants, departments, researchers, and other
stakeholders.
- Coordinate with campus Facilities Operations and external
vendors to facilitate timely completion of maintenance and repair
activities.
- Monitor completion of work orders and assist with follow-up on
outstanding facility issues.
Construction & Capital Project Support
- Assist the Facilities Manager with the coordination of
construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects across
School of Medicine facilities.
- Serve as a liaison with architects, engineers, contractors,
consultants, and University Facilities personnel during project
planning and execution.
- Support project activities through design review, construction
coordination, occupancy preparation, and project closeout.
- Assist in ensuring projects meet operational, research, safety,
and functional space requirements.
Compliance & Safety
- Support facility compliance with applicable University
policies, building codes, environmental health and safety
standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with life safety inspections, documentation, and
corrective action planning.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and facility
response activities as assigned.
- Maintain accurate facility records, maintenance documentation,
and inspection reports.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain facility records, preventive maintenance schedules,
equipment inventories, and operational documentation.
- Assist with vendor coordination, procurement activities,
service agreements, and project documentation.
- Support departmental operational initiatives, process
improvements, and special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the School of Medicine
Facilities Manager.
Shift
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and
experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable
knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $19.25 - $26.38 hourly
Grade: GGS - 008
