Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as conservation biology, or conservation biology (wildlife) with a minimum 2.75 overall GPA.
• Positive, hands-on attitude with a willingness to learn
• Ability to lift 50lbs and work outside in extreme weather conditions including freezing temperatures, snow, humidity, and heat.
• Ability to work hands-on with wildlife
• Must be reliable with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Must have access to own form of transportation
• Ability to follow instructions and then work independently to complete tasks or job assignments.
• Creativity and problem-solving skills
• Ability to recognize tasks to be done and the initiative to complete those tasks
• Communicative work style with strong interpersonal and collaborative-work ethic.
• Ability to collect and organize data from multiple projects concurrently
• Familiarity with various wildlife/environmental data collection techniques and research methods

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated technical writing skills
• Ability to complete a scientific literature review on subject of study
• PS/orienteering/compass skills
• Basic knowledge of Appalachian Wildlife and Fish, including invertebrates, and Natural History including geology and plants
• Ability to identify fish and wildlife, including invertebrates in the field and/or willingness to develop or improve identification skills.
• Coursework in mammalogy, herpetology, ornithology, entomology, invertebrate, and/or ichthyology.
• Coursework in wildlife management, terrestrial ecosystems, freshwater ecosystems, and/or wetland ecosystems
• Coursework in Botany
