Position Summary:
Campus Services is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented
Custodian - Campus Services & Hospitality
Operations to support the daily cleanliness, maintenance,
and operational readiness of campus facilities and a
university-managed guest lodging property.
This position will provide high-quality custodial services across
campus while also maintaining the guest lodging property to a high
hospitality standard. When the guest lodging property is occupied
or requires preparation between guests, the employee will be
responsible for ensuring the space is clean, safe, fully stocked,
and ready for arriving guests. During periods when the property is
vacant, the employee will support general custodial operations and
facility needs across campus.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, takes pride in
their work, and understands the importance of creating a positive
experience for both campus users and lodging guests.
Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Guest Lodging / Airbnb Operations
- Perform thorough cleaning and preparation of guest
accommodations between stays.
Clean and sanitize bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, common areas,
and entry areas.
Manage laundry operations including linens, towels, bedding,
and inventory control.
Restock guest supplies and maintain appropriate inventory
levels.
Conduct inspections to ensure the property meets established
cleanliness and hospitality standards.
Report damage, maintenance concerns, safety issues, and supply
needs.
Assist with minor maintenance tasks and coordinate larger
issues with appropriate staff.
Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for
guests.
Ensure compliance with established safety, sanitation, and
security procedures.
Campus Custodial Responsibilities
- Perform routine and special custodial duties in assigned campus
buildings.
- Clean offices, classrooms, public spaces, restrooms, and other
assigned areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and remove waste and
recycling.
- Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies.
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, and special cleaning
projects as needed.
- Assist with shoveling snow when needed.
- Maintain custodial equipment and report equipment or facility
concerns.
- Provide responsive service to campus departments, students,
employees, and visitors.

Required Qualifications:
Education: A high school diploma/GED.
Experience: One-to-two years of related experience
- Ability to perform custodial duties including cleaning,
sanitizing, maintaining, and preparing facilities for daily
operations and guest occupancy.
- Ability to operate custodial equipment and safely use cleaning
products and supplies.
- Ability to follow established procedures, maintain attention to
detail, and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service and
maintain a professional, welcoming environment for campus community
members and visitors.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a
fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift, carry 50lbs, push, and move materials and
equipment commonly associated with custodial work.
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work a flexible schedule
based on operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior custodial, housekeeping, hospitality, hotel, or
facilities maintenance experience.
- Experience working in a customer-service-oriented environment,
including lodging or guest services.
- Experience maintaining high standards of cleanliness and
presentation in guest-facing spaces.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, sanitation practices,
and safe handling of chemicals.
- Experience prioritizing multiple work locations and adjusting
to changing operational needs.
- Experience working in a higher education, commercial,
residential, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of cleaning solutions and practices is
preferred.
