About the Department:

The Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center opened in September 1999 and is one of the largest facilities of its type in Northern Virginia. Located on the Science and Technology campus in Prince William county of George Mason University, the 110,000 square foot facility features a 50-meter competition pool, leisure pool, whirlpool, locker facilities and family locker rooms, gymnasium with two practice courts, cardiovascular and strength training equipment, group fitness, mind/body and spin studios, three racquetball/activity courts, community room and classroom, and outdoor field and sand volleyball court.

About the Position:

The George Mason University, Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center is seeking Custodians to clean and care for the facility in a safe and healthy manner.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and bag trash throughout the building;
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum stairs, floors, and carpets;
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and refill dispensers;
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies;
• Wash walls and equipment;
• Wash accessible interior windows and mirrors; and
• Use ladders when required.

Required Qualifications:

• Safely and independently move up to 50 pounds and use heavy equipment (e.g., floor buffer, carpet cleaner);
• Be respectful and sensitive to a diverse group of members and guests; and
• Attend occasional job-related meetings.
