Custodian (Night Shift/3rd Shift)
Position Summary
Under the moderate direction of a supervisor, performs general cleaning duties within dormitories, offices and other public facilities areas.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Pick up and dispose of trash, to include the proper handling of recyclable materials.
- Dusts, sweeps, and/or dry mops.
- Wet mops and/or spot mops.
- Operates walk-behind or ride-on floor machine, wet vac, & carpet extractor.
- Cleans glass: All inside areas that can be safely reached.
- All entrance glass, including doors, inside and out.
- Sanitizes washrooms, showers, and toilet facilities (dormitories only).
- Fills all dispensers in restrooms.
- Vacuums and cleans carpets and walk-off mats.
- Washes walls, woodwork, light fixtures, inside of windows, and other glass.
- Removes snow and ice and cleans and/or picks up debris, such as leaves and paper, around entrances and fire exits (including fire escapes [dormitories only]) from the steps, and from the steps and walkways (generally distanced of ten feet or less) leading to buildings.
- Reports to immediate supervisor or to work control damage and/or malfunction of equipment observed within assigned areas.
- Performs other duties assigned within the normal scope of the department's responsibilities and the individual's capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written directions. Ability to interact with customers (students, faculty, administration), co-workers, and supervisors in a positive and helpful manner. Must be able to climb ladders, to bend and reach, and to lift (up to 60 lbs.)
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of experience preferred.
