Job Summary

Red Butte Garden & Arboretum is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our custodial team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for both staff and guests. This role plays a vital part in upholding our standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout the facility.

• University of Utah employees receive a UCard, which can be used for a UTA pass while actively employed at the UofU and Student-priced tickets for campus events, campus store discounts, and campus library privileges.
• Staff receive a half-priced discount on Garden classes, an employee discount in our giftshop, advance registration opportunities for kids camps and concerts, and two free concert tickets for our Outdoor Concert Series.
• Red Butte Garden is accessible via several bus routes that stop in Research Park and at the University Medical Center, as well as the Trax Red line, followed by a short walk or on-demand university campus shuttle. Responsibilities

1. Sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs and dusts floors.
2. Cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, and scrubs walls; dusts, cleans and vacuums furniture, fixtures doors and related furnishings by using appropriate cleaning supplies.
3. Operates and maintains electric floor machines, snow blowers, industrial vacuums, carpet shampooing equipment and upholstery shampooing equipment.
4. Cleans, refinishes and maintains a variety of floor coverings.
5. Labels and removes infectious waste bags and containers.
6. Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
7. Replaces sharp containers, transports trash and refuse, removes empty boxes and organizes closets.

Minimum Qualifications

This is an entry-level position. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are required. Six months of related experience is preferred.

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, educational, or public setting.
• Must be available at least one morning during the weekend.
• Respectful and professional demeanor when interacting with staff and guests.

Work Schedule Summary: Typically, a 6:00am to 2:30pm shift; with availability one morning during the weekend. Nights and weekend shifts required when Red Butte Garden events necessitate.
