Salary Range: $17.74 per hour, up to 19 hours per week.

Job Summary
The Customer Service Assistant, under general supervision, is a customer-focused role dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences. The Customer Service Assistant serves as a key point of contact for visitors, responsible for welcoming guests, processing admission sales, providing accurate information about museum programs and workshops, and supporting a safe and enjoyable environment. Customer Service Assistants help create meaningful and memorable experiences for every visitor. Provide a welcoming presence at the Admissions desk (selling tickets, answering questions, and offering guidance about programs and workshops.) Help to maintain a safe, clean, and inviting atmosphere throughout our public exhibit galleries, ensuring guests feel comfortable and engaged. Occasionally support special events and education all tours. Reporting to the Lead Customer Service Assistant, this role offers a balance of teamwork and independence.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides front-desk customer assistance to include answering telephones, greeting customers, and providing general information.
- Assists customers by providing general information, directions, and guidance on procedures, services, and resources.
- Researches and resolves routine customer inquiries, referring complex issues to appropriate staff as needed.
- Performs general administrative support, including data entry, records maintenance, and document processing.
- Supports shared communication channels and assists with maintaining timely and professional customer correspondence.
- Applies established policies and procedures when assisting customers and completing assigned tasks.
- Determines appropriate responses and escalates issues when necessary while using sound judgment.
- Assists with departmental projects, reports, and operational tasks as assigned.
- Collaborates with team members to ensure effective service delivery and supports daily office operations.
- Participates in meetings, training sessions, or special events as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- One (1) year of hospitality, front of house services or related work experience.
- This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

- Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience delivering high-quality customer service within a museum, educational, or public-facing environment.
- Bilingual in Spanish.

Physical Demands
- Jobs are sedentary; also involves walking and standing. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will work primarily at The Institute of Texan Cultures (Frost Tower, downtown San Antonio). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
