CY Lift Operator

Location: La Porte, TX

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CY Lift Operator to join our terminal operations team. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment, moving containerized and general cargo, and supporting daily yard operations in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy equipment in a fast-paced terminal, warehouse, logistics, or transportation environment and is committed to maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment, including Top Loaders, Empty Handlers, Yard Trucks, and forklifts.
• Transport containers and cargo between designated terminal locations.
• Load and unload cargo from trucks and containers using appropriate equipment.
• Perform pre-shift inspections and routine equipment checks, reporting defects or maintenance needs promptly.
• Safely stack and organize loaded and empty containers within the terminal yard.
• Accurately enter and scan container information using onboard computer systems and handheld devices.
• Inspect and segregate hazardous cargo as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to ensure the correct cargo is moved to the proper location on schedule.
• Report cargo damage, safety concerns, incidents, and equipment issues immediately.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
• Complete daily activity logs and other documentation as required.
• Assist with general terminal operations and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• Minimum one (1) year of experience operating a Top Loader and/or Empty Handler.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience operating heavy equipment such as a yard truck, mule jockey, tractor-trailer, or 52K forklift.
• Ability to successfully demonstrate equipment operating proficiency during evaluation.
• Ability to complete training and certification on additional equipment within the first year of employment.

Work Schedule

• Must be available to work flexible schedules, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
• Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, reaching, and balancing.
• Frequent walking and standing throughout the terminal.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 110 pounds on occasion.
• Ability to work in environments with dust, fumes, vibration, and moderate to high noise levels.
• Must meet applicable physical and screening requirements.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position that is performed primarily outdoors in a busy terminal environment. Employees are routinely exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and wind. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role.
