Position Title: Cybersecurity Lecturer

Location: River Forest (IL) Campus; Chicago Campus (Pilsen)

Position Summary:
The School of Information Studies (SOIS) at Dominican University (River Forest and Chicago, IL) is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time faculty lecturer to teach fully online and hybrid courses in cybersecurity.
We seek candidates who hold terminal degrees in their respective fields and are able to join the faculty on August 15, 2025.
SOIS is an ALA-accredited member of the iSchools consortium and offers a Bachelor of Science in Informatics, a Master of Library and Information Science, a Master of Science in Information Management, a Master of Arts in Youth Literature, a Master of Professional Studies, and a PhD in Information Studies.
The lecturer will teach for-credit undergraduate and graduate courses, labs, and adult education certification courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 28 course credits each academic year (a 4/4 teaching load).
- Design and deliver engaging, challenging learning experiences that are informed by pedagogical scholarship and professional practice.
- Lead the development and design of the cybersecurity curriculum and innovative programs.
- Guide students through hands-on exercises, labs, and scenarios using cybersecurity tools and platforms to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
- Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills, and support learning for students on campuses in River Forest and Chicago.
- Liaise with local, national, and international peers, colleagues, and students to promote the University and secure experiential learning opportunities for students.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 3 years relevant experience teaching at the university level
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols, operating systems, programming languages, and security tools
- A commitment to working with first-generation, immigrant, and/or underrepresented/historically excluded students
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD, EdD, or ABD with completion by August 2025
- Relevant professional certification(s) from among the following: A+, Cloud+, CTT+, CySA+, CISSP, CNIP, CIOS, CLNP, CCAP, CSIS, CSCP, CSSS, CSSLP, OSCP, OSWP, GIAC Security, Linux+, Network+, Security+, Server+
- Experience with Canvas LMS
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence in the cybersecurity domain
Salary and FLSA Status
FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
SALARY: $55,450 - $58,500
