In Dalhousie University's Doctor of Philosophy in Food Science and Technology programme you will benefit from graduate level class work and research opportunities related to food process technology, food microbiology, edible oils, engineering design, post-mortem biochemistry of muscle foods, proteins and enzymes, food rheology, and beverage science. You also have the opportunity to access a wide range of food processing equipment, a pilot plant, and well-equipped laboratories including some facilities shared with the Canadian Institute of Fisheries Technology, a specialized resource centre for graduate education and research in food science and food process engineering with emphasis on seafoods.

The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.
- PTE Academic: 65 PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. The score refers to a total score which ranges between 10 and 90.
- IELTS: 7 The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

- Graduate students are accepted on the basis of previous academic performance as well as the availability of research space and funding.
- Candidates must satisfy the general requirements for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
- Thesis-based master's degree or its equivalent.
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study.
- Degree granted by a university of recognized standing.
