Help us transform the student experience through insight, innovation and data.
At the University of Surrey, we're committed to creating an exceptional experience for every student. As we continue to invest in improving our services, systems and ways of working, we're looking for a curious and ambitious Data and Systems Analyst to join our Chief Student Office.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys turning information into meaningful insight, solving problems and finding better ways of working. You'll join a team that's driving continuous improvement across the student journey, helping colleagues make informed decisions and ensuring that data and technology are used to deliver positive outcomes for students.
Whether you're analysing trends, developing dashboards, improving business processes or supporting new technologies and AI-enabled solutions, you'll play an important role in helping us shape the future of student services at Surrey.
Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Surrey countryside, we offer market-leading benefits and a role in which you can make a real impact on people's lives.
We value, empower and support every member of staff to get the best out of your unique talents, so you'll be rewarded with a generous salary, 32 days holiday PLUS Bank Holidays, an industry-leading pension of up to 30%, salary sacrifice benefits, work-from-home opportunities and a unique and vibrant working environment on campus.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the Chief Student Office. Working closely with the Data and Systems Lead and colleagues across Student Life, you'll help us understand what our data is telling us and how we can use it to improve the student experience.
You'll be part analyst, part problem-solver and part systems specialist. One day you might be developing a dashboard that helps leaders identify emerging trends; the next, you could be supporting colleagues to get the most from a key system, investigating a data challenge, or contributing to a project that streamlines processes through automation and AI.
We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in how data can support better decisions and better services. You'll have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the University, contribute to strategic projects and help build a culture where evidence, insight and continuous improvement are central to everything we do.
Most importantly, you'll see the impact of your work. The insights you generate and the systems you support will help shape services that affect thousands of students throughout their time at Surrey.
This is a full time hybrid role, with an expected 2 days per week working from our Stag Hill campus (one to be Tuesday) and the rest working from home.
About You
You'll be someone who enjoys working with data and technology but is equally comfortable working with people. You know how to spot patterns, ask the right questions and turn complex information into something meaningful and actionable.
You may already have experience in a data, systems or business analysis role, or be looking to take the next step in your career. What matters most is your ability to think analytically, solve problems and communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues.
We're particularly interested in candidates who are naturally curious, enjoy learning new technologies and are excited by the potential of data, automation and AI to transform services. You'll have a strong eye for detail, take pride in producing accurate work and be motivated by finding opportunities to improve the way things are done.
If you're someone who enjoys working collaboratively, values continuous improvement and wants to make a tangible difference to the student experience, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll join a supportive and forward-thinking team that is passionate about improving outcomes for students. In return, we offer excellent opportunities for professional development, flexible working arrangements and the chance to contribute to an ambitious programme of digital and service transformation at one of the UK's leading universities.
