Job Summary:

Join the University of Colorado as a Data Center Administrator and take the lead in operating multiple high-performance data center locations that power cutting-edge medical research at the Anschutz Medical Campus, international scientific collaborations, and the academic success of students at both the CU Denver Campus and CU Anschutz Medical Campus. We are seeking a hands-on leader to play a critical role in supporting the daily operations, reliability, and scalability of our data center environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, service-provider-level setting and is passionate about enabling research and education through robust infrastructure. You'll work closely with network engineers, researchers, and IT professionals to ensure our systems meet the evolving demands of higher education and global discovery.
- Work on multiple campus entities in providing service across all CU campuses
- Support the robust electrical/HVAC/security facilities of CU's newest data center environment
- Support and maintain the physical layer data network of the data center environments
- Spearhead new technologies in maintaining a robust security awareness surrounding the data center environments
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis investigations for incidents involving the data center environments
Work Location: Onsite – This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Facilities Management, Business, Education, or a closely related field. Substitution: 4 years of professional or high-level technical/facilities work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree. Or an associate's degree with two years of relevant work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
- Professional: 1-2 years of relevant experience in facilities management, power systems, networking, server administration, or data center technical support.
- Senior: 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Principal: 3-5 years of experience managing a data center environment.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant Data Center specific certifications such as Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA), Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), or Data Center Design Consultant (DCDC)
- Relevant MEP or IT Network certifications
- Previous Data Center management or technical experience
- Experience working in higher educational Data Center environments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven experience in data center management and operations
- Understanding of data center infrastructure and network technologies
- Excellent leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with budget management and financial planning
- Proficiency with data center management tools and software
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and power distribution systems
- Hands-on experience with network and server hardware
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range for this position has been established as: Professional: $68,000 - $80,000; Senior: $81,000 - $100,000; Principal: $100,000 - $130,000.
