About the Job
The Data Governance & Quality Officer supports the delivery of UEL’s Data Governance Framework, helping embed strong data governance and good practice so data is managed as a valuable institutional asset. Working with Data Owners, Stewards and operational teams, the role focuses on improving data quality, providing actionable reporting and building a culture of data integrity to support Vision 2028 delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the operation and continuous improvement of the University’s Data Governance Framework, acting as a knowledgeable point of reference for applying it in practice.
- Undertake data governance and data quality casework, working with Data Owners and Stewards to investigate issues and progress actions through agreed routes.
- Develop and maintain data quality, exception and error reporting (primarily in Power BI) to provide clear visibility of issues and trends.
- Maintain oversight of data quality issues across assigned domains, including a data quality issues log with ownership, status and actions.
- Provide guidance, tools and practical support to enable Data Owners/Stewards to meet their governance responsibilities and agreed quality thresholds.
- Champion consistent data quality standards and good practice, promoting a culture of data integrity across the organisation.
- Provide regular data quality insights and assurance updates to relevant governance and strategy groups, supporting working groups with materials and inputs as required.
About You
You have experience in a data, information, governance or reporting role and enjoy improving how organisations manage data as a trusted asset. You’re confident working with a wide range of stakeholders to investigate and resolve data quality issues, and you can explain standards and expectations clearly to non-technical colleagues. You’re practical and solutions-focused, organised and methodical, and comfortable producing data quality / exception reporting (e.g., in Power BI) and using tools such as SQL to validate and interrogate data.
Benefits Package
At UEL, we believe that a great role is about more than just a salary. It’s about the complete package, including our outstanding work environment and inclusive culture.
We offer a genuinely competitive salary, dependent on experience (DOE), and a range of excellent benefits.
