Database Administrator II
The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene is seeking an IT professional to join our team as a systems Database Administrator. This role is responsible for working with other DBAs to monitor database performance, ensure database security, implement and verify database backups, and perform database software upgrades/patching. In addition to providing database related support to other staff. As part of our operation team, you will also provide application administration support for many of our enterprise systems. This includes installation, upgrade, monitoring and troubleshooting of enterprise application software.
This position works with the IT team in the design, development, build, and maintenance of database systems and environments to ensure data security, recoverability, and integrity. This position also helps develop related policy, procedures, and training.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Implements varied security measures to safeguard digital information according to established policies and procedures - 5%
- Installs, configures, maintains, backs up, restores, and performance-tunes databases - 20%
- Serves as a point of contact on database systems and procedures for existing projects and facilitates planning - 20%
- Identifies and resolves basic and routine data issues and upholds database-use guidelines - 20%
- Facilitates unit staff training opportunities in the effective utilization of databases - 5%
- Develops components of data architectures and database management policies and standards -5%
- Monitors and analyzes database audit tables and logs and provides varied data warehousing support and data extraction - 5%
- Configures, maintains, upgrades, develops, and tests IT systems and services in alignment with industry best practices - 10%
- Integrates, identifies, troubleshoots, monitors, and resolves basic supported services, systems, network, and application problems according to established processes and procedures - 10%
Department: WSLH - Office of Information Systems
Compensation: Minimum Salary is $95,000/year. Actual salary to be determined upon hire. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and saving accounts; retirement benefits.
Required Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience in Database Administration of Oracle or SQL Server or Inter Systems (Cache/IRIS) databases is required.
Education: Associates or 4 year degree in Information Technology related field is preferred.
